I started training at 21 as I was unhappy with the way I looked - 6 foot
2 inches tall and weighing under 9 stone! Being tall and long-limbed, I
found it difficult to pack on muscle, however, I kept at it and took my
first bodybuilding show in 1992, coming 2nd in the content. In the same
year, I also went on to win my weight class in a show called "Stars of
Tomorrow." Further honours followed (See my Honours page for full details)
until in 1996, after coming first in the East Midlands Championships, I went
through to compete in the British Championships coming 8th. In 1997 I took a
year out from competitions, and, during this period my husband Bill, the
ex-World Heavyweight Wrestling Champion known as "Wayne Bridges", and I
bought 'The Bridges' public house in Horton Kirby in Kent (further details
on my Links page). Returning to competitions in 1998, I came second in the
Midlands Qualifier for the British Championships and took 5th place in the
British Finals. This was followed a year later with a 1st in the Qualifier
and a 6th place in the Finals. In 2000 I took 2nd place in the Qualifier and
6th place in the Finals. I starred in my first film "The Good Thief" in 2001
(see more in the Media page). |
In May 2002 I won the London South East
Qualifiers. At the same time I began to get advice from Kerry Kayes of
CHEMICAL NUTRITION on nutrition, diet and training which, over a period of
five months, propelled me to 2nd place in the British Championships. This
gave me a great start to 2003, but unfortunately three weeks prior to the
British Championships, I was bitten by a dog leaving me with a finger
crushed and broken in four places. This forced me to spend a week in
hospital and gave me concern about my training schedule. However, once again
CHEMICAL NUTRITION came to my rescue, and with the help of Kerry Hayes and
John Hodgson I went on to win the British Championships. I will be eternally
grateful to Kerry and John. In my opinion CHEMICAL NUTRITION products are
second to none. 2003 proved quite good as I also became judge for my
Federation E.F.B.B with help from Sugar and Wand Tierney and also had the
honour of being asked by Kerry Kayes to present the medals at the English
Grand Prix to the professional male bodybuilders. I also gave nutrition and
training advice at DROP KIXX WRESTLING ACADEMY (click on Links for details).
In December 2003, after winning the British Heavyweight Female Bodybuilding
title, I turned professional. In additional to my many activities I enjoy
visiting different gyms to encourage and help other girls to compete. I al
always at the EFBB shows, so any of you girls that are interested, please
come along and I will only be too glad to be of assistance. I am also a
judge for the UK bodybuilding Federation - to find out more click on
